Volleyball Team Hosts Tulane and UTEP In Weekend Series

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Lady Eagle volleyball team looks to snap a four-match losing streak, hosting Tulane and UTEP in a weekend series.
Southern Miss (13-14, 5-7) is coming off a 3-0 loss at East Carolina. Mari Ruddick had 10 kills. Maia Ivanova finished the match with 13 digs.
Angela Hlavaty continues to lead the team in kills with 267, a 2.62 per game average. Ivanova leads the team in digs with 419, a 3.99 per game average and in aces with 37. Ruddick leads the team in attack percentage at .226 and Morgan Johnson continues to lead the team in total blocks with 99. Cassie Lavery has recorded 643 assists.
As a team, Southern Miss is averaging 13.29 kills and 15.81 digs per game with an attack percentage of .168. Seven players have recorded 100 or more kills on the season with four players topping the 200 mark.
Tulane is 11-10 overall and 7-5 in league play, following a 3-1 loss to Memphis. Sara Radosevic leads the team with 360 kills and 40 service aces. Luna Rebrovic leads the team in assists with 538 and Jenn Miller leads the team in digs with 407.
As a team, the Green Wave is averaging 15.61 kills and 16.35 digs per game with an attack percentage of .226. Five players have 100 or more kills on the season with two players over 200.
UTEP has a 5-21 overall record and 1-11 in league play, following a 3-0 loss to UAB. Keisha Hyman-Gifth leads the team in kills with 276 with Christie Murphy next with 265. Catherine Chavez leads the team with 1,083 assists. Elsa Reyes leads the team with 512 digs and 54 service aces.
As a team, the Thundering Herd is averaging 13.49 kills and 18.03 digs per game with an attack percentage of .156. Five players have 100 or more kills on the season, including three with 200 or more.
Following the weekend series, Southern Miss will step out of conference play, traveling to Alcorn State for a Nov. 7 match. Southern Miss then returns home to close out the regular season, hosting UAB on Nov. 10 and Memphis on Nov. 12.
