Hazelwood Announces 2026 Southern Miss Volleyball Schedule

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss volleyball head coach Jenny Hazelwood today announced the program's full schedule for the 2026 season. The slate features 27 regular season matches, 16 Sun Belt Conference bouts and 12 home dates at the Southern Miss Wellness Center highlighted by the three-day Southern Miss Invitational.
"We're thrilled with how our 2026 schedule has come together," said Hazelwood, who enters her fifth season at the helm of the program. "It's a great mix of tough nonconference matchups that will challenge us early and push our development and a strong Sun Belt slate that sets us up to welcome some exciting home crowds to the Southern Miss Wellness Center. Our team has worked hard all offseason, and this schedule gives us the chance to compete at a high level while building toward our goals. We can't wait to get after it and represent Southern Miss on the court every night."
Fans can get their first preview of the 2026 Golden Eagles with the Black & Gold Scrimmage at the Wellness Center on Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. Exhibition competitions continue with a trip to Starkville to take on Mississippi State on Aug. 15 and a final tune up against Nicholls in Hattiesburg on Aug. 22.
Southern Miss opens the regular season on Friday, Aug. 28, in Jacksonville, Alabama, at the Cocky Classic. The Golden Eagles will play three matches over two days beginning with a Aug. 28 meeting against Southern. Southern Miss will play two matches on Saturday, Aug. 29, to close out the event beginning the day against Jacksonville and ending it against host Jacksonville State.
The Golden Eagles travel to Oxford for a tri-match against Central Arkansas and host Ole Miss on Saturday, Sept. 5. Central Arkansas is one of two programs that earned automatic bids to the 2025 NCAA Tournament on the Golden Eagles' schedule this season.
Southern Miss plays its first home matches of the year at the Southern Miss Invitational by playing host to Houston Christian, Jackson State, Lamar and Southern. The Golden Eagles open the event on Thursday, Sept. 10, against Houston Christian in a standalone match.
Friday, Sept. 11, sees four total matches at the Southern Miss Wellness Center beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Southern Miss ending the day against Lamar. The Southern Miss Invitational comes to a close on Saturday, Sept. 12, with Southern Miss playing the first and last of three matches on the day.
The last nonconference test of the year sees Southern Miss travel to Memphis, Tennessee, for Memphis' Rumble at the Roane. Southern Miss will take on host Memphis on Thursday, Sept. 17, and end the tournament on Friday, Sept. 18, against Little Rock.
Sun Belt Conference play opens on the road against old rival Louisiana Tech with matches on Friday, Sept. 25, and Saturday, Sept. 26. Southern Miss returns home to open a four-game homestand beginning on Friday, Oct. 2, against Troy. Southern Miss closes the Troy series on Saturday, Oct. 3, before hosting Georgia State for two matches on Friday, Oct. 9, and Saturday, Oct. 10.
The Golden Eagles head to Monroe, Louisiana, to take on ULM for two matches on Thursday, Oct. 15, and Friday, Oct. 16, before returning home to take on the reigning Sun Belt Conference champions in Arkansas State on Thursday, Oct. 22, and Friday, Oct. 23.
October comes to a close in Lafayette, Louisiana, with matches on Friday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 31, against Louisiana. Southern Miss' final homestand of the year is set for Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7, against South Alabama. Southern Miss ends the 2026 regular season in Huntington, West Virginia, for a pair of matches against Marshall on Thursday, Nov. 12, and Friday, Nov. 13.
After the 16-game conference slate, the top five teams in each division will head to Foley, Alabama, for the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Championship. Action begins on Thursday, Nov. 19, at the Foley Events Center with first round matches. The four-day tournament concludes on Sunday, Nov. 22, with the championship match.
The Sun Belt Tournament Champion will receive the conference's automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Division I Volleyball Tournament with the full 64-team field announced on Sunday, Nov. 29.

Season ticket renewals and new season tickets sales for the 2026 Southern Miss volleyball season will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30. Fans can submit an interest form today to have the ticket office contact them once tickets are on sale by clicking HERE.
Fans who held season tickets during the 2025 season can renew their seats through their online ticket account by logging in HERE. Those interested in purchasing new season tickets may do so online at SouthernMiss.com/Tickets, by calling the ticket office at 601-266-5418 or by visiting the Pat Ferlise Center during normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
