Willcutt Drafted By The Milwaukee Brewers

Brad Willcutt was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers today.

HATTIESBURG, Miss.? Southern Miss senior catcher Brad Willcutt was selected in the 27^th round with 805^th overall pick by the Milwaukee Brewers today in Major League Baseball?s draft.

Willcutt becomes the first Golden Eagle to be drafted this season and marks the 54^th time a Golden Eagle has been selected in Major League Baseball?s draft, and becomes the 47^th different player to be taken, as several former players were drafted in more than one season.

The Columbus, Miss., native had a big year in 2005, helping Southern Miss to a 41-21 overall record and third straight NCAA Regional.

Willcutt, who earned third team Louisville Slugger TPX All-American honors, finished the year with a .323 batting average, leading Southern Miss with 16 home runs, 21 doubles and 82 RBI this season, also earning first team All-Conference USA honors.
