Tulane Takes Both Baseball Games From Southern Miss
HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? The remainder of game one was played and so was game two and Tulane was victorious in both, winning game one, 18-4, and 11-2 in game two, today, at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field, in front of 4,291.

Even though he only pitched four innings, Micah Owings (5-4) picked up the win, giving up five hits, one walk and striking out five. Chris Worster (1) pitched the final five innings, giving up four runs on eight hits, walking three and striking out five to earn the save. Southern Miss starting pitcher Matt Caire (5-3) dropped his third decision of the season, pitching three innings, giving up six runs on six hits, walking three and striking out four. Rob Burns finished the game, pitching the final five innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on four hits, walking five and striking out four.
The Green Wave was led by Tommy Manzella, who finished with five hits, including three doubles and had an RBI. Joe Holland finished with three hits and three RBIs and Brad Emaus finished with two hits and four RBIs, and Nathan Southard had two hits and three RBIs. Southard, Emaus, Scott Madden,
Trey Sutton led the Golden Eagles with three hits and Brad Willcutt, Jason Lowery, Beau Griffin and Kevin Coker each had two hits.
In game two, Tulane pitcher Brian Bogusevic (8-1) pitched seven strong innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on three hits, walking three and striking out four to earn his eighth win of the season. Ricky Fairchild pitched the final two innings, gave up two hits and struck out two. Patrick Ezell (5-2) dropped his second decision of the season, pitching five innings, giving up seven runs, five earned, on eight hits, walking two and striking out four.

Tulane?s first four batters finished with nine of Tulane?s 12 hits, including a game-high three hits from Manzella, including his fourth double of the day. Southard, Emaus and Bogusevic each finished with two hits. Southern Miss had four players finished with one hit each and Jason Lowery finished with an RBI when he hit his third home run of the season.
Tulane took an early 4-0 lead, scoring one in the first inning and three more in the second inning. A double down the left field line by Manzella scored Southard in the first inning, and back-to-back doubles by Southard and Emaus keyed the scoring in the second inning.
Single runs by Southern Miss in the third and fourth innings cut the Green Wave lead to 4-2 in the fourth inning, but Tulane scored a single run in the sixth inning, four more in the seventh and two more in the eighth to provide the final outcome.
A dropped infield pop up by Bogusevic allowed Matesich to score in the third inning, and Lowery blasted a solo homer to right center in the fourth inning.
A sacrifice fly by Dini scored
In the Green Wave eighth inning, a single to right field and then a fielding error by right fielder Jody Blount allowed Bogusevic and Manzella to score.
Southern Miss and Tulane will play the series finale on Sunday at
