Lady Eagles Open Three-game HomeStand
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss Lady Eagles open a three-game homestand, beginning with Tulane on Saturday. Southern Miss try to snap a five-game conference losing streak.
Southern Miss (7-14, 1-7) is coming off a 73-53 non-conference win at New Orleans on Monday. Freshman Emer Foley scored a team-high 22 points and pulled down a season-high 16 rebounds. Shannon Stueber had 12 points and Dianca Jones added 10 points. Southern Miss trailed by three points early, but scored nine unanswered points to take the lead for good.
Stueber continues to lead the team in scoring, averaging 13.9 points, while Deondra Carter is averaging 10.9 points and Jones is averaging 10.5 points. Biland lead the team in rebounding at 5.3 rebounds per game. The Lady Eagles are averaging 56.5 points and 35.3 rebounds. Southern Miss is shooting 38.5 percent from the field and 72.9 percent from the free throw line.
Following the Tulane game, Southern Miss returns to action for its final home series against UAB on Feb. 11 and USF on Feb. 13.
Scouting Tulane
4 Tulane is 10-11 and 2-6 following a 64-62 win at East Carolina on Jan. 30. In that game, D'Aundra Henry hit a short jumper in the lane with 13.6 seconds remaining to give Tulane a 64-61 advantage. ECU's Ebonee Downey made only one-of-three free throws as the Green Wave hung on for the win. Henry led Tulane with 20 points and Lakethia Hampton added 15 points. Hampton leads the team in scoring and rebounding at 16.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. As a team, the Green Wave is averaging 60.5 points and 36.1 rebounds per game. Tulane is shooting 39.1 percent from the field and 68.3 percent from the line.

4 This is the 52nd meeting between Southern Miss and Tulane. Southern Miss leads the series 28-23 in one of the longer running series. The series date back to the 1977 season. Southern Miss snapped a six-game losing streak against the Green Wave last season. Tulane has won seven of the last eight games. Southern Miss has one player from the state of Louisiana (Deondra Carter) and an assistant coach from there as well (Brooks Donald).

4 Following Emer Foley's weekend performance, the Bray, Ireland native, got her first starting nod this season against UNO. She responded with 22 points and a season-high 16 rebounds, 10 of which were offensive rebounds.
Grant Out For Remainder of the Season
4 Junior guard Erica Grant is out for the remainder of the season after she dislocated her shoulder during the Marquette game (1/21). Grant had played in the previous 17 games and started six contests. She was second on the team in assists. Grant is scheduled to have surgery to repair the shoulder.

4 The Southern Miss Lady Eagle basketball program looks to earn its 500th victory in the school?s program. Heading into the 2004-05 season, the Lady Eagles needed eight victories to reach that milestone. Southern Miss won its 499th game in a 73-53 win over New Orleans and needs only one more win to reach 500 wins in the Lady Eagle program.
