Basketball Seeks Third-Straight Win, Hosts Bradley Wednesday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss Golden Eagles return to action in the fourth game of a seven-game homestand, hosting Bradley, Wednesday, at Reed Green Coliseum. Tip-off for the game is set for 7:05 p.m.
Southern Miss (4-6), under the direction of second-year Head Coach Larry Eustachy, is fresh off an 84-74 victory over Tennessee State on Monday. The win was Eustachy's 275th of his career. Bradley, under the direction of Head Coach Jim Les, enters the game with a 5-2 overall record , after defeating Delaware State, 68-46, on Saturday.
Wednesday's game will be broadcast over the Southern Miss ISP Sports Network, with the "Voice of the Golden Eagles" John Cox and legendary coach M.K. Turk calling the action. Air time begins at 6:30 p.m., CT, with the Golden Eagle Courtside Show.
Shaun Simpson continues to lead Southern Miss in scoring with 9.6 points per game, while Jarekus Singleton and Courtney Beasley follow with respective averages of 8.9 and 8.5 points per night. Mildon Ambres has a team-best 5.3 rebounding average, while Kyle Lamonte is tops in assists with 30 on the season.
Marcellus Sommerville leads all Bradley players with 17.7 points per game, while Lawrence Wright and Tony Bennett are averaging 12.4 and 12.3 points, respectively. Zach Andrews leads the team in rebounds with 8.1 per game, and Daniel Ruffin has a team-high 31 assists. The Braves finished the 2004-05 season with a 13-15 mark and a 6-12 finish in the Missouri Valley Conference, good for 8th in the league standings.
The game marks only the second time that Southern Miss and Bradley have met, with the Braves holding a 1-0 advantage in series play. The two teams met in the opening-game of the Phoenix N.C.A.A. Ball in Tokyo, Japan, on Dec. 16, 1988. Bradley won the game 94-86.
The game also is part of Southern Miss Athletics' "Eight is Great" ticket promotion and single-game bleacher tickets will be $4.
Following the game, Southern Miss continues its seven-game homestand against West Florida on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 7 p.m.
