Soccer's Stephens Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Soccer senior Micah Stephens was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI first team today. She will now receive consideration for ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American honors.
She becomes the soccer program's fourth, first team selection, joining Souhaila McReynolds and Ashleigh DeHuff in 2000 and Lauren Prewitt in 2004. In all, Southern Miss has eight Academic All-District selections.
Stephens had a career year in 2005, ranking second on the team with five goals, while leading the team with six assists and 16 points. She ended her career third all-time in assists (13), tied for fifth in assists per match (0.20), eighth in points (29), seventh in goals (eight), second in minutes played (4,069) and tied for first in matches started (63).
The Alvarado, Texas native, a preseason 2005 Conference USA Player to Watch, began her senior season with two assists and two goals against Louisiana-Lafayette, before recording the 12th hat trick in school history against Mississippi Valley State.
Southern Miss ended the 2005 season with a 4-9-2 overall record, 1-7-1 mark in Conference USA.
