The Lady Eagles own a 2-3 record against the Lady Jaguars, including a 2-1 victory last season.
Southern Miss has not played since a 3-2 victory at Birmingham-Southern on Sept. 10, and has played every game on the road since opening its season at home, Aug. 27. The Lady Eagles were scheduled to meet Louisiana-Lafayette in a home match Sept. 17, but inclement weather associated with Hurricane Ivan canceled the meeting.
Under the direction of first-year Head Coach Gail Macklin, the Lady Eagles have gone undefeated thus far this season, currently sporting a 4-0-1 record. The Lady Eagles won the KELME Port City Classic Tournament hosted by
Senior forward Lauren Prewitt leads the team with eight goals, 18 points, and three-game winning goals. Prewitt recorded back-to-back hat tricks in the team?s first two games of this season, and was named the MVP of the KELME Port City Classic Tournament Sept. 5.
Sophomore forward Carly Barkley ranks second on the team with two goals, scoring both in the team?s last match at Birmingham-Southern. Barkley is also second on the team with six points and is tied with Prewitt with a team-high two assists. Freshman Megan Kolts, senior Katie Randolph, sophomore Andrea Kerkoff, sophomore Kim Turner, and sophomore Sarah Brennan have each scored a goal this season.
Seniors Anna Snyder and Leslie Schoeplein have split time at the goalkeeper position, with Snyder recording 11 saves, while Schoeplein has stopped five shots. Both players have recorded a shutout this season.
Sophomore forward Karrie Johnson leads the team with four goals, including two game winners and nine points this season. Senior Heather Adamus and junior Tanya Allegretti have each recorded three goals this year. Adamus has a team-high 21 shots, including 12 on goal. Freshman Sue Ahrens has the team lead with three assists.
