Baseball Ranked As High As No. 14 In Latest Polls HATTIESBURG, Miss. ?
Southern Miss (33-12, 14-7 Conference USA) defeated No. 9 Ole Miss, 6-3, in a midweek game and then lost the first game at UAB (14-5) and defeated the Blazers, 7-6 in game two and 6-2 in game three.
East Carolina is ranked No. 5 by NCBWA, No. 6 by Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball and No. 7 by Sports Weekly/ESPN Coaches Poll, marking the highest-ranked team in Conference USA. Tulane is ranked No. 13 by Baseball America, the Sports Weekly/ESPN Coaches Poll and NCBWA and No. 23 by Collegiate Baseball.
Southern Miss returns to action on Tuesday night when the Golden Eagles host New Orleans at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field in Hattiesburg, Miss., at 6:30 p.m. Southern Miss then hosts Louisville for a three-game Conference USA weekend series. Friday's game starts at 6:30 p.m., Saturday's at 4 p.m., and Sunday's at 1 p.m.
