Lady Eagle Tennis Player Receives All-Conference Honors

HATTIESBURG, Miss. ?  Southern Miss? freshman Nicola Slater was named to the Conference USA All-Conference third team, announced today by the league office.

Tulane?s Jenny Kuhn and Head Coach David Schumacher received the top C-USA tennis honors, being named Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively.  Gergana Ganeva of DePaul was named Freshman of the Year.

Slater, a native of Ayr, Scotland, becomes the first Lady Eagle to receive all C-USA honors since 2000.  Slater finished the spring season with an impressive 17-4 record, playing at No. 1 singles.  She finished the Conference USA Tournament with a 3-1 record and was 2-2 in doubles play.  She posted the first 20-win season since 1999.  Southern Miss finished the season with a 12-11 record and a ninth-place finish in the C-USA Tournament.
