Lady Eagles Finish 2nd In Snowbird Classic TAMPA, Fla. -- Southern Miss' Lady Golden Eagle golf team used the best team round (297) of the 36-hole, 18th Annual Snowbird Classic here Friday to grab second place in the event. In addition, Southern Miss' Jennifer Keefe shot rounds of 72-73--145 to earn medalist honors in the two-day event, fnishing four shots in front of Diana Meza of James Madison, who had rounds of 76-73--149. In addition, Natasha Vincent finished in a tie for 10th place and Mia Davidsson and Ofelia Lopez tied for 14th. The 18-team event is sponsored each year by Northern Illinois University and this year was played at the par 72, 5,940-yard Pebble Creek Golf Course in Tampa. James Madison won the tournament with rounds of 307-297--604, Southern Miss was second at 197-320--617, Southern Illinois third at 319-305--624, Western Carolina fourth at 321-320--641, and Marshall rounded out the top five at 329-315--644. For Southern Miss, in addition to Keefe, Natasha Vincent tied for 10th at 76-80--156, Ofelia Lopez (75-83--158) and Mia Davidsson (74-84--158) tied for 14th and Nicole Mackey put 76-84--180 numbers on the scoreboard to tie for 20th place. Head Coach Julie Gallup and her Lady Eagles continue their spring break Florida trip by playing in the USF Waterlefe Invitational March 15-16. The tournament is hosted by South Florida and will be played at the Waterlef Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla. Southern Miss then returns home to host the Lady Eagle Invitational, April 6-7 at Shadow Ridge Golf Club, in Hattiesburg.
