Southern Miss, UNO Baseball Game Postponed
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss-UNO baseball game scheduled for 6:30 tonight at Privateer Park in New Orleans, La., has been postponed because of wet grounds that are the result of recent heavy rain in the Crescent City area.
The game has been rescheduled and will be played May 18, at UNO, with the same 6:30 p.m., start time.
Southern Miss currently is 3-1, after sweeping Northwestern (La.) State on opening weekend (Feb. 20-22) and then dropping a single game to South Alabama, Tuesday night.
The Golden Eagles will continue their season with a weekend series at Louisiana Tech. Games are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 27, at 6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, at 3 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 29, at 1 p.m. Southern Miss then will return home for a pair of midweek games against Louisiana-Monroe, Mar. 2-3, and then play in the Cox Communication/ESPN Lake Area Classic in Lake Charles, La.
That event is being hosted by McNeese State and, in addition to the host team and Southern Miss, the field will include Indiana State and Oklahoma State. The Eagles are scheduled to meet Indiana State Mar. 5, Oklahoma State Mar. 6 and McNeese State Mar. 7.
