Baseball Ranked No. 24 In Latest Polls
HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? The Southern Miss baseball team, coming off a weekend series sweep of Northwestern (La.) is ranked No. 24 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. The Golden Eagles defeated the Demons, 12-3 on Friday, 15-1 on Saturday and 12-8 on Sunday.
Southern Miss (3-0) received 17 votes in the Sports Weekly/ESPN Coaches Poll, placing them 35th in the nation. Tulane is ranked No. 10 in both the NCBWA and Sports Weekly/ESPN Coaches Poll, marking the highest ranked team in the conference. East Carolina, Houston and USF are receiving votes in both polls as well.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday at 3 p.m., at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field, when they host South Alabama. They travel to New Orleans on Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m., game before traveling to Ruston, La. for a three-game weekend series with Louisiana Tech. Friday's game starts at 6 p.m., Saturday's at 3 p.m., and Sunday's at 1 p.m.
