Southern Miss Drops First Game of Lady Luck Classic
BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech shot an impressive 58.1 percent from the field on its way to a 105-40 victory over Southern Miss in the first game of the Lady Luck Classic Tuesday night.
This was the first opponent who scored 100 or more points since
Deondra Carter and Shannon Stueber led Southern Miss with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Virginia Tech placed four players in double figures led by Kerri Gardin with a game-high 19 points, followed by Britney Anderson with 12, Carrie Mason had 11 and Dawn Chriss added 10 points.
?Our inexperience and youth really showed tonight,? Head Coach Joye Lee-McNelis said. ?This team has to understand that there will be times when things go good. Tonight it went bad. We played against a senior-junior team and that team understands what it takes to get things done. We are going to have to grow up and learn how to fight. That?s going to be our challenge.?
