Lady Eagles Play Well, But Fall On Senior Day

HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? For eight Southern Miss Lady Eagle soccer players playing the final home match of their career, nearly every statistical category pointed toward a happy finale at the USM Soccer Complex on Sunday.

With the loss, Southern Miss dropped to 
Centenary?s Rebecca Swilley headed home a free kick from Sara Thompson in the 70th minute to provide the winning goal. The score came 13 minutes after Jenny Mather?s shot put the visitors on the board for the first time.
Carly Barkley scored the Lady Eagles? only goal of the match, a header off of Megan Kolts? corner kick in the 43rd minute. Barkley?s goal was her fifth of the season.
?We?re very disappointed,? Southern Miss Head Coach Gail Macklin said. ?It?s tough to take ? we had 23 shots but were unable to score. It sums up our whole year. Mistakes cost us.?
The game was the final home contest for Lady Eagle seniors Anna Snyder, Leslie Schoeplein, Lauren Prewitt, Kay Beth Costilow, Emily Ann Chenoweth, Jill Picout, Katie Randolph and Laura James.
