Soccer To Play Final Home Matches Of The Season

Southern Miss has scored 20 goals this season, averaging 1.34 per match.
Senior forward Lauren Prewitt leads the team with nine goals on the season. Prewitt scored back-to-back hat tricks in the team?s first two games of the season and was named Conference USA Player of the Week Aug. 30. Prewitt also leads the team with 20 points, three game-winning goals, and is tied for the team lead with two assists, along with junior Micah Stephens, sophomores Carly Barkley and Kim Turner and freshman Megan Kolts.
Barkley is second on the team with four goals, while Kolts has two. Stephens, Turner, senior Katie Randolph, sophomore Sarah Brennan and freshman Andrea Kerkhoff, have each scored single goals on the season.
Senior goalkeepers Anna Snyder and Leslie Schoeplein have each seen time in the goal the season. Snyder has 38 saves and one shutout, while Schoeplein has 16 saves and two shutouts.
Sophomore Dee Guempel leads the team with seven goals, seven assists, and 21 points on the season. Sophomore Maureen Hughes and senior Jamie Perry have six and five goals, respectively. Hughes has a team-high three game- winning goals.
Junior goalkeeper Amanda Martin has 67 saves on the season, with nine shutouts on the season.
The two teams will meet for the second time on Sunday. The only meeting came in 1997, a 3-2 Southern Miss victory.
Centenary is currently 11-4-1 overall on the season. Centenary has scored 28 goals on the season, averaging 1.8 goals a contest.
Freshman Tara Sageser leads the team with nine goals and 21 points on the season, including four game-winning goals. Senior Melinda Levinski and sophomore Rebecca Swilley have each scored six and five goals, respectively.
Junior goalkeeper Lindsey Stafford has 91 saves on the season, while posting an 11-3-1 record. She has 6.5 shutouts on the season. Freshman goalkeeper Ali Hilsher has 12 saves and .5 shutouts on the season.
Sunday?s match against Centenary College will be the final home match of eight Lady Eagles, including Lauren Prewitt, Laura James, Katie Randolph, Leslie Schoeplein, Anna Snyder, Emily Anne Chenoweth, Jill Picaut and Kay Beth Costilow.
Following the home matches, Southern Miss returns to the road for its season finale at Tulane, Saturday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m.
