Lady Eagles Drop Second Straight Soccer Match GREENVILLE, N.C.
Junior Krystel Pabey started the scoring action for the Pirates, (4-2-2, 1-0-1), in the 35th minute of play when she fired a lazer shot past the Lady Eagles' (5-2-1, 0-2), Anna Snyder. The goal came off a two- person touch pass by Meghan McCallion and Anastasia Nikas. It was Pabey's first goal of the season and the third of her career.
In the second half, ECU piled on the goals when McCallion received a pass from Rachel Hils and Penny Perrott to put the Pirates up, 2-0. McCallion scored her sixth goal of the season when Perrott found her in the goal box and used a spin move to get past one defender and the goalkeeper.
The last 15 minutes of the game saw the Pirates score two more goals. The first came from sophomore Carmen Calpo in the 75th-minute of play. Mellissa Penney found Calpo outside the goal box for a low right corner goal. At the 83-minute mark, Nikas scored the final goal of the afternoon finishing with one goal and one assist on the day.
Southern Miss returns to action Friday, Sept. 26th, hosting Charlotte. Match time is set for 4 p.m.
