Baseball Receives Highest Ranking In School History
Hattiesburg, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team moved up six spots in Baseball America's Poll and five spots in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association to No. 17, the highest ranking in school history.
Two weeks ago, the Golden Eagles tied their former highest ranking at No. 19, matching the March 13, 1995 poll. This week, Southern Miss moved up five spots to No. 23 in the USA Today/Coaches Poll and four spots to No. 24 in Collegiate Baseball's Poll.
Conference USA member Tulane is ranked No. 24 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. TCU is No. 29 in Collegiate Baseball's Poll and the Horned Frogs are receiving votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
Southern Miss (39-13, 21-6 Conference USA) returns to action Thursday, May 15, at Cougar Field in Houston, Texas against Houston (29-23, 17-10 Conference USA), for a three-game Conference USA weekend series. Thursday and Friday's games begin at 7 p.m., and the series closes on Saturday at 1 p.m.
