Southern Miss Baseball Ranked No. 35 In Latest Poll
Hattiesburg, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team, winners of five-straight games and eight of its past nine, was ranked No. 35 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association in its latest poll and received votes in the latest ESPN College Baseball poll, which was released today.
The Golden Eagles received nine votes in the ESPN/Coaches poll, good enough for a ranking of 41st nationally. Tulane is No. 21 in the NCBWA Poll, marking the lone C-USA representative to crack the top 25. UAB was ranked No. 31, Houston No. 36, TCU No. 37, East Carolina 41st and South Florida (47). Besides Southern Miss, five C-USA teams received votes in the ESPN/Coaches poll, UAB (45), Houston (45), Tulane (38), Louisville (8) and TCU (6).
Southern Miss (8-2) returns to action Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., against Louisiana-Monroe, at Indian Field and then will play a second game on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The Golden Eagles will host Southeast Missouri State at Pete Taylor Park this weekend. Friday's game will start at 6:30 p.m., Saturday's at 2 p.m., and Sunday's at 1 p.m.
