Lady Eagle Tennis Defeats Louisiana-Lafayette
LAFAYETTE, La. ? Southern Miss Lady Eagles got back in the win column, defeating Louisiana-Lafayette, 5-2, in tennis action, Saturday.
Southern Miss (7-8) captured the doubles point, winning at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles with Nikhila Narra and Olivia Berry defeating Susan Linden and Robin Singh, 8-3 at No. 2. The Lady Eagles won at No. 3 by default. ULL's Thais Bortoletto and Frenanda Kompatsher defeated Kathi Sadofsky and Courtney Ulrich, 8-5, at No. 1 doubles.
The Lady Eagles recorded wins in singles matches No. 2, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6, while losing at No. 1 and No. 4. Narra defeated Bartoletto (ULL) in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5. Berry was a straight set winner over Lucia Lasso (ULL), 6-2, 6-2. Ulrich won at No. 5 over Fernanda Kompatsher (ULL), 6-0, 3-1 (retired). Sara Anne Harrion got the win at No. 6 by default.
Southern Miss plays two home matches this week, hosting Troy State, Wednesday at 2 p.m., and Arkansas State, Saturday at 2 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Willis Terry Tennis Complex located at Tatum Park.
According to Head Coach Randy Rowley, junior Emily Foster has been dismissed from the Lady Eagle tennis team for violating team policies. She had posted a 7-3 record during the spring season.
