Lady Eagle Golfers Finish Second In Snowbird Tourney
The Southern Miss Lady Eagle golfers cut five shots off their first day score and finished the 17th Annual Snowbird Intercollegiate Women's Golf Tournament in second place after Friday's final round in the 36-hole event hosted by Northern Illinois at the Pebblecreek Golf and Country Club here.
James Madison put three players in the top five to take the team title with a score of 295-296--591, ahead of second place Southern Miss, at 307-302--609.
The Lady Eagles' Brena Quaranto finished in third place in the individual competition with a 78-70--148 two-day total. James Madison's Carol Green (71-74--145) and teammate Jessica Lewis (72-73--145) tied for medalist honors and did not play to determine a winner.
Southern Miss' Jennifer Keefe (76-73--149) finished in a tie for 7th place, and Ofelia Lopez (79-75--154) finished in a tie for 17th place.
The Lady Eagles will stay in Florida for the Waterlefe Tournament Mar. 17-18 in Bradenton, Fla. That event is hosted by South Florida.
