Southern Miss Baseball Receives Votes In Latest Polls
Hattiesburg, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team, coming off its championship in the South Alabama Coca-Cola Classic last weekend, received votes in the latest ESPN College Baseball Coaches Poll and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Baseball poll, which was released today.
The Golden Eagles received 12 votes in the ESPN/Coaches poll, good enough for a ranking of 39th nationally. Southern Miss is ranked No. 49 in the NCBWA Baseball poll. Tulane is No. 24 in the ESPN/Coaches Poll and No. 23 in the NCBWA Poll, marking the lone representative out of C-USA to crack the top 25. Four other C-USA teams received votes in the ESPN/Coaches poll, Houston (75), Louisville (5), TCU (5) and South Florida (3).
Southern Miss (5-2) returns to action this weekend at home against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (4-5). Friday?s game is set for 4 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday's games are set for noon and 1 p.m. respectively.
