Lady Eagle Golfers Rank Third at Birmingham Southern Tournament
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team finished the first round of the Henry-Griffitts Southern Shootout in third place, scoring a 339 at the Greystone Golf Club. Four Lady Eagles finished round one in the Top 20, including team leader Natasha Vincent, who tied for 10th place with an 83.
Jennifer Keefe and Ashlea Deener both tied for 15th place, each turning in scores of 85. Ofelia Lopez scored 86 and tied for 19th, while Brena Quaranto finished with a 90 and tied for 36th.
Jacksonville State leads the team event after placing three golfers in the top-15, including individual leader Marilen F. Ruiz, who shot a 74. The Gamecocks? total of 322 is 12 shots better than UAB?s 334. Troy State and Tennessee Tech round out the top five, while host Birmingham Southern follows in sixth place.
Round two concludes the tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 18.
