Lady Eagle Soccer Drops Season Finale HATTIESBURG, Miss
Southern Miss scored the first goal of the match when junior Lauren Prewitt was assisted by Carly Barkley on a five yard header at the 38:31 mark. It was Prewitt's fifth goal of the season.
The lead was short-lived, however, as Mississippi State tied the score on Betty Ann Casey's goal at the 44:36 mark in the first half. She was assisted by Karen Sandrik. The Bulldogs (9-8-3) took the lead when Amber Meesey's shot off a rebound snuck past Lady Eagle goalkeeper Anna Snyder for the 2-1 victory. The Bulldogs outshot Southern Miss 22-12, while shots on goal were even at eight. Mississippi State goalkeeper Luisa Marzotto finished with seven saves, while Snyder racked up six for the Lady Eagles. This was the final match for both schools as Southern Miss finished the season at 9-7-3. It marks the fifth winning season in seven years since the Lady Eagle's inaugural season in 1997.
