Southern Miss Women Lead Georgia State Tourney
STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. -- Southern Miss shot a 306 team score in the first round of the John Kirk/Lady Panther Intercollegiate tournament here Monday and is in a tie for first place, heading into Tuesday's final round.
The tournament is being played at the par 72, 5,842-yard Eagles Landing Country Club. In addition to the co-leaders, Jacksonville State occupies third place at 310, Augusta State is six shots back in fourth place at 316 and UCF rounds out the top five at 317. Elon (318), Charleston Southern (318), Georgia State (321), Campbell (322), Wofford (327), Troy State (331) and Montevallo (361) round out the field after one day. Middle Tennessee State's Kristin Lynch and Campbell's Sofia Gorelik are tied for the individual lead with even par 72 rounds. Southern Miss put two players in the top 10 with Mia Davidsson carding a 37-37--74 for sixth place and Jennifer Keefe putting together a 36-39--75 round for solo possession of seventh place. Other Southern Miss players and their scores include Natasha Vincent (38-38--77) tied for 11th, Brena Quaranto (40-40--80) and Ofelia Lopez (41-40--81) tied for 29th.
