Lady Eagle Soccer Drops Overtime Decision To Memphis MEMPHIS, TENN -
The Lady Eagles fell to 8-6-2 overall and just 1-6-1 in Conference USA play, while Memphis, which kept its chances of earning a berth in the Conference USA Tournament alive with the win, improved to 5-7-3 overall and 2-4-1 in C-USA.
Southern Miss opened the scoring in the second half at the 61:59 mark, with Kim Turner netting her first goal as a Lady Eagle.
Memphis would tie and take the lead in the next 17 minutes as Konno's first goal and a goal by Mary Shelton gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead.
Southern Miss would answer to tie the match when Kay Beth Costilow, off an assist from Kim Turner, sent the match into overtime with only 15 seconds left in regulation. It was Costilow's third goal of the season.
That set up the dramatics for the Tigers as Konno's unassisted goal gave Memphis the victory.
Memphis outshot Southern Miss,15-14, but shots on goal went the Lady Eagles way, 8-5.
The Lady Eagles return to action Friday, at Houston. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
