Southern Miss Finishes 3rd At USF Invitational

BAYONET POINT, Fla. -- The USF women?s golf team saved its best round of the tournament for today's final round in the Beacon Woods Invitational, and parlayed the 294 team total into an easy first place finish in the 54-hole event, finishing at 293-304-294--891. The host team lead after all three rounds.

Southern Miss put up a 303 team total in today's final round and finished in a solid third place, at 299-306-303--908. Ole Miss finished second at 306-298-298--902, and Miami (300-308-302--910) and UCF (296-308-310--914) round out the top five teams in the nine-team field.

Miami's Tina Miller shot a final round 74 to finish at even par, 70-72-74--216). Florida International's Courtney Burdick (73-73-73--219) and USF's Jill Crowe (69-77-73--219) tied for second, and Ofelia Lopez led the Lady Eagles with a final round one-over-par 73 to finish at 75-76-73--224 and in a tie for 12th place. Teammate Natasha Vincent  finished two shots further back (73-77-76--226) and in a tie for 14th. Jennifer Keefe (74-77-76--227, t16), Mia Davidson (78-76-78--232, t23) and Brena Quaranto (77-78-81--236, t31) completed the Southern Miss finishers.

Southern Miss will close its fall season with an Oct. 27-28 appearance in the John Kirk/Lady Panther Invitational, hosted by Georgia State and played at the Eagles Landing Golf Club in Stockbridge, Ga.

Following that event, the Lady Eagles open the spring season Mar. 12-13 at the NIU Snowbird Classic at Pebble Creek Country Club, in Tampa, Fla.
