? Southern Miss women?s tennis team wrapped up their weekend at the Middle Tennessee Women?s Fall Invitational, winning the Flight B doubles and the consolation match in the Flight D singles at the
Freshman Nicola Slater and sophomore Courtney Ulrich defeated Gayatri Remesh and Jeanne de Wet of UT-Martin in the finals, 8-4. Junior Jennifer Sibille may have lost her first match of the tournament, but fought her way through the consolation draw for a win. She defeated Marcelle Gaze of
?This was, without a doubt, the best individual efforts from this team I?ve seen since I?ve been here,? Head Coach Randy Rowley said. ?I was pleased with each player?s performance and this is the type of performances we will need to be successful. Overall, we had a good tournament and we got a lot of positives out of it.?
Slater posted a 1-1 record, defeating Gayatri Ramesh of UT-Martin, 7-6 (4), 6-4 to advance to the finals of Flight B singles. She lost in the finals to Laura McNamara of Middle Tennessee in a three-set match, 1-6, 6-3 (10-7).
In Flight C singles, Courtney Ulrich lost Ana Bakran of UT-Martin, 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinals.
