Southern Miss Golfers Lead Cellular One Raising Cane Classic
HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? The Southern Miss men?s golf team (287-282 ? 569) holds a two-stroke lead over Sam Houston State (288-283 ? 571) after two rounds of the Cellular One Raising Cane Classic. The event was held at the Canebrake Golf Club.
Southern Miss? Michael Soroka leads the pack after day one, shooting 71-67 ? 138. He holds a one-stroke lead over Tulane?s Mark Sullivan who shot 72-67 ? 139.
The Golden Eagles? Justin Emil holds a share of third place, shooting 70-70 ? 140. He is tied with Jeffery Krogsgard of Birmingham Southern who scored 73-67 ? 140.
Other Southern Miss golfers include Shane Rushing, who is tied for 22nd with 70-76 ? 146, and Matt Wofford who carded 76-72 ? 148 for a tie at 32nd. Justin Elliot is tied for 39th, finishing with 76-73 ? 149.
Golden Eagles who were competing as individuals were Will Taylor who scored 74-72 ? 146 for a tie at 22nd and Ben Snow who tied 32nd place with 75-73 ? 148. Jon Borne finished the first day with 76-80 ? 156 and is tied for 75th place.
The final round of the Cellular One Raising Cane Classic begins tomorrow morning, Tuesday, Sept. 10, with a shotgun start.
