Lady Eagles Finish Seventh in Louisville Tournament
SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team shot 319-316-314 -- 949 to finish in seventh place at the Louisville Cardinal Cup, at the Cardinal Club today. Natasha Vincent led the Lady Eagles, improving to a tie for seventh place in the individual standings and scoring 78-78-74 -- 230 in the three-round event.
Brena Quaranto tied for 23rd, scoring 76-82-79 -- 237, and Ofelia Lopez shared 26th with 82-78-78 -- 238. Jennifer Keefe carded 83-79-83 -- 245 and tied for 37th, and Ashlea Deener tied for 58th with 89-81-85 -- 255.
Tourney-host Louisville won the tournament with a score of 302-310-307 -- 919. UNC Greensboro placed second with a score of 313-305-306 -- 924, and Memphis ranked third with a score of 312-307-307 -- 926.
Jenny Gleason of UNC Greensboro won medalist honors, scoring 70-75-72 -- 217. Memphis golfers Jennifer Jaszek (77-73-74 -- 224) and Marianne Ruud (72-76-77 -- 225) finished second and third, respectively.
The Lady Eagles' next competition will be at South Florida's Beacon Woods Invitational, at the Beacon Woods Golf Club, in New Port Richey, Fla., on Oct. 28-30.
