Lady Eagles Finish 13th At USF Tourney
BRADENTON, Fla. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team shot its worst round of the tournament in today's third and final round of the Waterlefe/USF Invitational Golf Tournament here Tuesday and finished in 13th place in the 14-team field with a 311-323-335--969 total.
First-day leader Michigan State shot a 308 final round to win the 54-hole event with a 293-301-308--902 total. Tulane (308-311-299--918) posted the top round of the day with a 299 team total and moved from third into second. Host South Florida (309-310-315--934), Central Florida (304-310-321--935) and Louisville (305-315-316--936) round out the top five.
Michigan State's Emily Bastel used a final round one-under-par 71 to earn medalist honors at 69-74-71--214. Brena Quaranto posted Southern Miss' top finish at 74-86-79--239, good for a tie for 30th.
Other Southern Miss players and their scores include: Ashlea Deener (74-86-84--244), Ofelia Lopez (84-80-81--245), Jennifer Keefe (81-76-91--248) and Natasha Vincent (82-81-97--260). Playing as individuals, Southern Miss' Megan McConnell shot 81-91-84--256, good for a tie for 60th, and Emily Black finished in a tie for 64th at 85-86-89--260.
The Lady Eagles will play next when they host the Conference USA Tournament April 20-22, at the Hattiesburg Country Club.
