Lady Eagles Defeat Bucknell
The Southern Miss women?s tennis team defeated Bucknell University, 4-1, today, at Port Royal Racquet Club, in Hilton Head, S.C.
Shawny Price (USM) def. Nada Dureic (BU), 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 1 singles spot, and Jennifer Sibille (USM) def. Ashley Diers (BU), 6-1, 6-4, at the No. 2 spot to give the Lady Eagles a 2-0 lead. Olivia Berry (USM) def. Jill Wurbury (BU), 6-4, 0-6, 6-2, at the No. 3 spot, while Sara Anne Harrison (USM) def. Kristin Inglis (BU), 7-5, 6-4, clinching the win for the team. Tanya Sichko (BU) def. Jessica Olson (USM), 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 6 spot, giving Bucknell its only point.
There was only one doubles match played. Price/Sibille (USM) def. Dueric/Dyers (BU), 8-5, at the No. 1 doubles spot. The Lady Eagles won the matchm, 4-1.
The Lady Eagles? record improves to 2-13 on the year. The team faces University of Memphis Mar. 22, at 2:30 p.m. in Memphis, Tenn.
