Jacksonville State Takes Lady Eagle Invitational
HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? Jacksonville State shot a team score of 306 in cold and rainy conditions and overcame fourth place to win the Southern Miss Lady Eagle Invitational, 322-306 ? 628, at Timberton Golf Club. North Texas shot 317-314 ? 631 to claim second place, and first-round leader Middle Tennessee State placed third with 315-321 ? 636.
Laura Rakel and Randi Gauthier of North Texas earned first and second place, respectively, as Rakel shot 75-76 ? 151 and Gauthier carded 76-76 ? 152. MTSU?s Tamara Munsch (77-77 ? 154) and Jacksonville State?s Angie Green (80-74 ? 154) shared third place, and Green collected today?s best score of 74.
Southern Miss, 337-319 ? 656, finished sixth in the team rankings, improving by 18 strokes over round one and collecting the third-best team score in the final round. Ofelia Lopez tied for 11th place with 82-78 ? 160, leading the Lady Eagles.
Brena Quaranto shot 83-80 ? 163 and tied for 20th, and Jennifer Keefe tied for 24th with 85-80 ? 165. Natasha Vincent placed 32nd, shooting 87-81 ? 168, and Emily Black scored 89-87 ? 176 and tied for 41st.
Ashea Deener tied for 28th with 80-86 ? 166, and Megan McConnell scored 86-91 ? 177, tying 45th. Both competed as individuals.
The Lady Eagles have a month off before competing in the Lady Green Wave Classic, on March 4-5, in New Orleans, La.
