Middle Tennessee State Leads Lady Eagle Invitational
HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? The Southern Miss Lady Eagle Invitational started today, in cold conditions, and featured Middle Tennessee State as the leader after one round, shooting a team score of 315. Austin Peay shot 316, as a team, and North Texas finished day one at 317.
MTSU?s Kandace Burnett and North Texas? Laura Rakel shared the top score of 75. Randi Gauthier (North Texas), Amanda Phillips (Austin Peay) and Kathy Johnson (Jacksonville State) tied for third, each shooting 76.
Southern Miss holds seventh place after shooting 337. Ofelia Lopez led the Lady Eagles? team players, tying at 20th with an 82. Ashlea Deener, who is competing as an individual, holds a piece of ninth place, carding an 80.
Brena Quaranto finished the first round tied at 24th with an 83, and Jennifer Keefe shot an 85 to share 33rd. Natasha Vincent scored 87 to tie at 39th, and Emily Black shot an 89 to tie at 44th. Megan McConnell competed as an individual and finished tied for 35th with an 86.
The weather forecast may alter the starting conditions of the final round tomorrow. With the chance of frost occurring, the original tee time set at 8 a.m., may be moved to 9 a.m., and will have a shotgun start instead of a staggered start.
