Conference USA Names Castleman Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week
In his first game of the year, Castleman pitched seven innings against Jaguars, picking up his first victory of the season. He gave up three runs, one earned, on four hits, struck out a career-high six batters and walked only one. He held the Jaguars to a .154 batting average for the game.
Louisville's Mike Tisdale picked up a victory in the Cardinals' season-opening 6-1 win over Vanderbilt on Feb. 22. He threw seven strong innings, allowing one run on just five hits (four singles) and did not walk a batter, while striking out three.
The hitter of the week was Houston's Jesse Crain. He batted .600 (12-of-20) as Houston won three-of-four games against nationally-ranked opponents last week. He had four hits in each of the two wins over No. 3 LSU and hit safely in all four games on the week. Crain scored eight runs, hit three doubles and drove in four runs, while adding a walk and a stolen base.
