Southern Miss Soccer Visits South Florida
HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? The Southern Miss soccer team opens its final-two match road swing with a Friday visit to Tampa, Fla., to take on South Florida in Conference USA soccer.
The Lady Eagles (6-8-1, 2-5-1 in C-USA) are coming off their final home weekend, where they dropped a 1-0 decision to Memphis on Friday and finished with a 1-1 draw against Tulane on Sunday. South Florida (6-7-2, 2-4-2) split its last weekend series, drawing with TCU, 3-3, and edging Houston, 3-2.
Senior forward Katie Adams and sophomore midfielder Katie Randolph continue to lead the Southern Miss offense. Adams has a team-high 16 points this season, including a team-high seven goals. Randolph follows with 11 overall points and is tied with freshman defender Micah Stephens with three assists.
Junior keeper Leslie Schoeplein leads the team on defense with a career-high 71 assists. Schoeplein, who has had double-digit saves in three performances this season, also leads Conference USA in saves per match (6.45).
Tia Opliger leads South Florida with 15 points on the season, including seven goals. Keeper Breck Bankester paves the way with 60 saves on the year.
Following the South Florida match, the Lady Eagles have one match remaining in the regular season when they travel to face UAB on Nov. 1.
