Eagle Golfers Rank Third at Stephen F. Austin Tournament
LUFKIN, Texas -- The Southern Miss men's golf team finished the first day of the Stephen F. Austin Crown Classic ranked third, after shooting 302-295 -- 597 at the Crown Colony Country Club.
Arkansas-Little Rock turned in a team score of 303-283 -- 586 and holds a five-stroke lead over Southeastern Louisiana (295-296 -- 591), going into the final round.
Shane Rushing led the Eagles and placed second in the individual field, shooting 73-72 -- 145 (+1) on the first day. Austin Brown shot 73-76 -- 149 and tied for 11th, and Justin Emil shares 13th place with 78-72 -- 150.
Danny Dennis is tied for 31st after scoring 78-75 -- 153. Justin Elliott carded 79-78 -- 157 and tied for 52nd.
Luke Bakke of Arkansas-Little Rock has the individual lead after 36 holes with a one-under par of 72-71 -- 143.
Final round action is slated to begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct 15.
