Lady Eagle Soccer Drops TCU, 3-1
FORT WORTH, Texas ? Southern Miss jumped out to a 2-1 lead after the first half and added one more goal in the second half to defeat TCU, 3-1, in Conference USA soccer action, Friday, at TCU.
Senior forward Katie Adams led the way with one goal and one assist, as the Lady Eagles (6-6, 2-3 in C-USA) picked up their second conference win of the season. The Horned Frogs fell to 2-9-4 overall and 1-3-2 in conference play.
Southern Miss opened the scoring 18 minutes into the match, as sophomore midfielder Katie Randolph scored unassisted to give the Lady Eagles the 1-0 lead.
TCU countered in the 30th minute, as Lori Robbins netted her third goal of the season, knotting the score 1-1.
But the tie would be short-lived as Adams converted on an assist by Leila McReynolds in the 33rd minute of play.
The Lady Eagles added an insurance goal in the 69th minute, as senior forward Lindsay Canham took an assist by Adams and found the back of the net.
Southern Miss keeper Leslie Schoeplein finished the match with six saves, and the Lady Eagles outshot their hosts, 14-13.
Southern Miss now returns home to host Houston in a Conference USA match, Sunday, at the USM Track and Soccer Complex. Kickoff for the match is set for 1 p.m.
