Fall Baseball Begins on Monday
Hattiesburg, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team will begin its official fall workouts starting on Monday, Oct. 1, at 2:30 p.m., at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field. The Golden Eagles will practice Monday through Friday for the next three weeks, and will scrimmage each Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The practices will last throughout the month of October, ending with the annual Black-Gold game on Saturday, Oct. 20. The scrimmages are open to the public.
"I'm anxious and ready for the start of another year of baseball," Southern Miss Head Coach Corky Palmer said. "Even though we have a lot of new faces and a lot of youth on the roster this year, I am excited about our team. The coaching staff is ready to get started so we can see the ability of the players."
The Golden Eagles return 10 letterwinners, including four starting position players and three starting pitchers from last year's squad that finished 27-32 overall and advanced to the semifinals of the Conference USA Tournament.
