Southern Miss Women's Tennis Team Wins Second Straight
In doubles competition the Eagles won at both the No. 1 and No. 2 spots to jump out to an early 1-0 lead. At No. 1 doubles, Jackie Prew and Patricia Kundisova defeated Sandra Gloria and Virginie Villani 8-4. Marie Lindberg and Tiina Rautajoki teamed at the No. 2 spot to defeat Catherine Gauthier and Rachel Wade 8-5. The Eagles won the No. 3 spot by default.
Southern Miss won all of the singles matches except for the No. 1 spot, where Jackie Prew was defeated by Catherine Gauthier 6-4, 6-3. Kundisova defeated Villani 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 2 spot. Lindberg defeated Gloria 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot, while Shawny Price defeated Rachel Wade 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 4 spot. Molly Boutreis defeated Lindsey Reecht 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5 spot, and the Eagles won the No. 6 spot by default.
The Lady Eagles improve their overall record to 2-3. The next match will be against Mississippi Valley State Feb. 23 at Tatum Park in Hattiesburg.
