Yelverton Wins SFA Tournament as Golden Eagles Finish Third
LUFKIN, Texas ? Tim Yelverton collected his second medalist honor of the fall season, winning the Stephen F. Austin Crown Classic with a score of 72-70-73 -- 215 (one under par). Southern Miss placed third (299-292-310 -- 901) in the team rankings, finishing two strokes behind champion Texas Tech (300-287-312 -- 899).
The Golden Eagles were tied for second with Lamar after two rounds, but the Cardinals shot one stroke better in the final round to claim second place (299-292-309 -- 900).
Yelverton won the Cellular One Raising Cane Classic in September for his first medalist honor of the season. The senior claims a 71.2 average after four tournaments and finished second at Memphis' tournament and 11th at UL Monroe's tournament.
Jake Pasch shot 71-74-76 -- 221 to share fifth place. Michael Soroka improved from 35th yesterday to finish tied for 29th with 79-74-78 -- 231.
Shane Rushing tied for 45th with 78-74-83 -- 235. Justin Emil shot 78-74-84 -- 236 for a piece of 50th.
