Lady Eagle Golfers Slip One Spot To 10th
BAYONET POINT, Fla. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team slipped to a 321 in today's second-round of the Beacon Woods Invitational here Saturday and into a tie for 10th place with Florida International.
The 54-hole event ends Sunday.
Ole Miss and Louisville matched their opening-round 297s with identical second day 302s and are tied for first place with 599 totals. Host and first-round leader South Florida slipped from 295-306--601 and from first to third place after 36 holes. Tulane and UCF round out the top five.
Louisville's Morgan Hapney shot the best round of the tournament, a five-under-par 67, Saturday and used her 74-67--141 total to move to the top of the leader board at 141, four shots in front of Ole Miss' Elizabeth Hoffman, 71-74--145.
Southern Miss' Brena Quaranto slipped from a one-over-par 73 to nine-over-par 81 today and is tied for 24th place at 154. That score continues to top the 36-hole Southern Miss scores. Ofelia Lopez shot the best Golden Eagle round of the day, a 78, and is at 159. Teammates Natasha Vincent and Jennifer both matched their first-round 81 totals and Ashlea Deener slipped from 78 to 87.
