Eagle Golfers Rank Eighth at Memphis Tournament
MILLINGTON, Tenn. -- The Southern Miss men's golf team finished the first day of the Hillman Robbins Memorial Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Memphis, with a two-round total of 300-296 -- 596. The Golden Eagles are in eighth place and 19 strokes behind tourney leader Arkansas State, as the Indians scored 293-284 -- 577.
Senior Tim Yelverton leads all USM golfers and holds a share of 11th place, scoring 71-73 -- 144. Justin Emil and Shane Rushing are tied for 25th, both carding 74-75 -- 149.
Michael Soroka is tied for 47th after shooting 81-73 -- 154, and Bo Lee goes into the final round tied for 57th with 82-75 -- 157.
UNC Wilimington's Derek Brown holds the individual lead with a six-under par total of 138. Marquette's Nathan Colson is in second place with a four-under par total of 140.
Final round play begins Tuesday at 8 a.m. at Big Creek Golf Club.
