Zach Somdal joined Southern Miss in August 2025 as an athletic communications graduate assistant. Somdal works with the Golden Eagles' men's golf and softball programs as their sports information director.
Prior to coming to the Hub City, Somdal worked as an athletic communications student assistant at Troy for four years. With the Trojans, Somdal assisted the department in a variety of roles, eventually serving as the secondary contact for the Trojans' softball team in the 2025 season.
A native of Prattville, Ala., Somdal attended Prattville High School before enrolling at Troy University where he earned his bachelor's degree in hospitality, sport and tourism management with an emphasis in sport management and a minor in coaching. He is pursing a master's degree in sport management while enrolled at Southern Miss.
