Drew Granger became the Director of Operations for the Lady Eagle Basketball program in July of 2016 after serving as a graduate assistant and intern in the Athletics Communications office for Golden Eagle Athletics.
While working for the Athletics Communications office, Granger assisted with a variety of responsibilities for several teams, including setting up the media area for basketball home games and helping run the postgame press conferences. He also gained valuable experience on the operations side working with the softball program, where he handled all travel for the team, filling out permission forms, meal vouchers, and was in charge of tracking receipts. He also served as the Voice of Southern Miss Softball. During the rest of his tenure in communications, he worked with both tennis programs, women’s soccer, baseball and football. A few of his duties included game-day setup, live stats, running postgame interviews, preseason media days, attending practices, working with local media, gathering quotes, setting up weekly interviews and working home games.
Granger graduated from Delta State, where he earned his bachelor’s in sports information with minors in journalism and HPER (Health, Physical Education and Recreation). He played four years of football for the Statesmen, winning the 2011 Gulf South Conference Championship, 2011 NCAA DII Regional Championship, and 2014 Gulf South Conference Championship.
Granger’s stepmom, Dee Pansano Granger, is a former Lady Eagle, and was part of the last recruiting class Joye Lee-McNelis was involved with when she was an assistant coach under Kay James.
Granger also earned his Masters in Sport Management from Southern Miss.
