Owens started at Southern Miss as the Graduate Assistant for the Men's Golf Team in August of 2018.
As the Men's Golf GA, Owens implements team practices, and helps with recruiting, fundraising, equipment orders, and co-runs the Sam Hall Intercollegiate Tournament. He also helps to handle the day-to-day operations for the men's golf program.
Owens previously worked golf clinics and summer camps as an instructor at Laurel Country Club, Hattiesburg Country Club, and Bay Springs Country Club from 2015-2019 specializing in early instruction, short game, and practice planning.Â
He earned his Bachelor's degree in Political Science and History with a minor in Spanish in 2018 from Delta State University. While at Delta State, Owens golfed for the Fighting Okra as a two-time letterwinner. He averaged 74.3 strokes in his senior season when Delta State finished 11th at the 2018 NCAA National Championships, the best finish in school history and recieved the prestigious Mark Laesch Award for the most improved team in the NCAA.
Owens is a native of Laurel, Mississippi and married the former Ashley Tapper in February of 2019. They are expecting their first child in February of 2020.Â
