Track and Field Posts Pair of Wins on Day One of Green and Gold Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Golden Eagles made their mark with two wins on day one of the UAB Green and Gold Invitational Friday in the Birmingham Crossplex.

The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Jaellene Burgess, Valencia Watson, Kennedi Sanders and Addison McLaurin highlighted the meet with a first-place finish, winning the event in 3:47.34. Valentino Rudolph captured first place in the 200 meters with a time of 20.88.

In other women's top performances, Emme Bates finished third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:10.00, while Olivia Smith placed fourth (2:14.54) and Cadence Lapp took seventh (2:15.29). Maria Kaylor added an eighth-place finish in the 3,000 meters, crossing the line in 10:12.67. On the men's side, Saxon Brown also recorded a top-eight finish for the men, placing fourth in the 800 meters in 1:55.35.

The Golden Eagles will resume events tomorrow, Feb. 7th to close out the final day of the Green and Gold Invitational. Live results will be available at https://live.xpresstiming.com/meets/60871.
