HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss (14-15, 7-10 Sun Belt) heads to Monroe, La., to take on ULM (13-14, 7-10 Sun Belt) in the final game of the 2025-26 regular season. The game not only give both teams the final shot at avoiding a losing season but has major implications on the Sun Belt Conference Tournament seeding as both teams are currently part of a four-way tie in the league standings. Tipoff between the Lady Eagles and Warhawks is set for 6:30 p.m. at Fant-Ewing Coliseum with broadcasts on ESPN+ and the Southern Miss Sports Network.
The Lady Eagles enjoy the quick turnaround of Sun Belt Conference play and arrive in Monroe after falling at South Alabama, 57-43, Wednesday night. The Jaguars held Southern Miss to its worst shooting performance of the season, 20.8 percent, to overcome 19 turnovers and win. South Alabama never trailed and kept Southern Miss at bay by dominating the glass 53-37 en route to their second victory over the Lady Eagles in the last five years.
Southern Miss now turns its attention to the Warhawks of ULM, who enter the final game tied with Southern Miss in the Sun Belt standings and sitting at 13-14 overall. First-year head coach Scotty Fletcher has a rich history coaching against Southern Miss head coach Missy Bilderback, his predecessor and former rival coach when the two shared the sidelines in the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference.
Fletcher's squad took the first meeting between the two at the Division I level and currently has three players averaging double-figures, led by J'Mani Ingram's 11.4 points per game. Nakiyah Mays-Prince (11.1) and Marcavia Shavers (10.3) also post double-figure averages while Jazmine Jackson's 9.7 are just behind the trios. Shavers also leads the Warhawks with 9.3 rebounds per game while Mays-Prince leads ULM in assists (127) and steals (52).
Southern Miss heads to Monroe for Bilderback's first game back at Fant-Ewing since taking over at Southern Miss. The Warhawks will celebrate senior night ahead of the game while Southern Miss brings back five former Warhawk seniors to Monroe as well.
Phillip Thigpen (play-by-play) and Mike Vining (analyst) will be on the call on ESPN+ while the Voice of the Lady Eagles, Jason Baker, opens the Lady Eagle Courtside Show at 6 p.m. on the Southern Miss Sports Network.
