Softball Returns Home to Host the Hub City Classic

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss softball (8-8) gears up to host Lamar (7-8), Morehead State (0-9), Jackson State (7-5) and Chattanooga (8-7) in the Hub City Classic at the Southern Miss Softball Complex starting on Friday, Feb. 27, concluding on March 1.
On day one of the weekend tournament, the Golden Eagles play at 4:30 p.m. against Chattanooga. Southern Miss is slated to play two games on Saturday, Feb. 28, against Lamar at 2:00 p.m. and Morehead State at 4:30 p.m. Finishing off the Hub City Classic the Golden Eagles play Chattanooga at 12:30 p.m. and Jackson State at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1.
Southern Miss is coming off a midweek win in Thibodeaux, La. over Nicholls 7-3 set to host the second, and final, home tournament of the season. The Golden Eagles are tied with Louisiana to lead the Sun Belt in triples with seven, ranked second in the conference with 63 walks, first in the Sun Belt with nine SAC flies and tied for first with 11 SAC hits. The black and gold also lead the Sun Belt in assists with 151 and fielding percentage with .981.
Nealy McManus is second in the conference and fourth in the nation with 49 assists, Hannah Christian is tied-for eight in the Sun Belt for hits with 20 and Kayce Bennett ranks tied for first in the Sun Belt and tied for 59th in the nation for catching three runners stealing.
