Lady Eagles Set to Celebrate Senior Day Against Texas State

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss women's basketball welcomes Sun Belt Conference foe Texas State (11-13, 7-6 Sun Belt) to Reed Green Coliseum for the Lady Eagles' (12-13, 5-8 Sun Belt) final game in Hattiesburg this season. The game is a part of Southern Miss Athletics' Super Saturday with baseball, women's basketball and men's basketball all playing on Fourth Street. Tipoff for the second meeting between Southern miss and Texas State is set for 5 p.m.
Southern Miss will celebrate its seven-person senior class in a pregame ceremony beginning at 4:30 p.m. Parking enforcement for the day will be begin at 9 a.m. with baseball parking in effect until 2 p.m. when men's basketball parking enforcement will begin. Fans that do not have men's basketball passes are asked to move their vehicles to the appropriate lot following the conclusion of the baseball game.
Additionally, fans who attend the baseball game at noon can show their baseball tickets at the Reed Green Coliseum box office and receive a free ticket to the basketball doubleheader. For more information, visit SouthernMiss.com/Tickets.
Southern Miss is coming off of an 85-62 loss to ULM in its first meeting between the Lady Eagles and Warhawks this season. ULM overcame an early Southern Miss lead and took command of the game with a 32-point second quarter, cruising to the final margin from then on.
Meloney Thames (Philadelphia, Miss.) collected her team-best 20th game with double-figure scoring after leading the team with 18 points on the night. Thames was one of four double-figure scorers for Southern Miss but ULM placed five in double-figures, led by Jazmine Jackson's 22 points, all off the bench.
The Lady Eagles have lost seven of their last eight games and are just 3-9 since the start of 2026 despite playing to close finals in the majority of those games. Four active Lady Eagles still average double-figures but Southern Miss' opponents are averaging 74.1 points per game on the full season and 79.1 points per contest in the last 12 games.
Texas State arrives in Hattiesburg after a 69-63 win over South Alabama in Mobile that gave the Bobcats a 7-6 record in Sun Belt play. The Bobcats have a hold on the sixth spot in the standings and are in position to finish in the top half of the league once again despite five teams already with 10-plus wins.
Head coach Zenarae Antoine is in her 15th season leading the Bobcats with a school-record 225 wins and 226 losses. Former Lady Eagle assistant head coach Barbara Farris currently serves as an assistant coach for the Bobcats.
